To help with our ongoing local apostolic mission and operations, Cursillo suggests a standard tithing gudeline of 5% to your parish, 1% to your diocese, 1% to the Cursillo Movment, and 3% to other charities, missions, etc of your choice.  However, each should give according to their means and blessings received.  All tithing and donations to the Cursillo are tax deductable.

Tax tip - for those that choose to pay for their candidate's weekend donation.  Tithe to Cursillo Movement in general instead, so that its all tax deductable.

Fr. Fidelis Memorial Cursillo Fund

Honor the memory of Fr. Fedelis Albrecht, OFM with a memorial donation to help further the Cursillo Movement.

The Cursillo originated in Spain in the 1940's and came to the United States in 1957. While in San Angelo, Texas, Fr. Fidelis was primarily responsible for translating the Cursillo into English, which previously had only been given in Spanish. This is why we call him the Father of the English Cursillo.  In 1962, Bishop Charles Helmsing invited Fr. Fidelis to bring the Cursillo Movement to the Kansas City-St. Joseph Missouri Diocese. From here, Fr. Fidelis and lay teams helped establish many other Cursillo centers throughout the United States. Today the Cursillo Movement has spread worldwide in several different languages.

Fr. Fidelis joined the 5th Day Community on September 21, 1973.  Fr. Fidelis is buried at Munt St. Mary Cemetery, 2201 Cleveland, Kansas City, MO.  Row 1, Section G-300, Space 15.

A Father Fidelis Memorial Cursillo Fund is established with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.  The earnings from this fund will primarily be used to provide scholarship assistance to those in need to attend Cursillo Weekends and other Cursillo formation opportunities.  Contributions to this fund are tax deductible.

You may contribute online using a credit card by going to  http://www.gkccf.org/give/give-to-another-fund  and click on the F's, then on Father Fidelis Memorial Cursillo Fund, and follow the instructions.  If you experience any problems making a contribution online, please send an email to the Webmaster.
